Phillip is the founder of the Black Genealogy Collective. He is also the co-host of “Journey Through the Generations” podcast and Host of the “Black Genealogy Corner” podcast. He has been researching his own family since 2019 after he attended his first Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) National Conference and RootsTech, the largest genealogy conference in the world. Phillip is the most recent recipient of the President’s Awards at the 2023 AAHGS National Conference.

He is a life member of AAHGS, a member of the RootsTech Media/Influencer team, and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Phillip’s biggest find in his research so far, is his paternal grandfather, great-grandfather, and a living Uncle in California. All were unknown his whole life until 2020 when a result came back from his Ancestry DNA test naming his new Uncle as a close relative. Since then, he’s learned that his great-grandfather was the only black doctor in small town, Conway, AR caring for all of the black people in the area. Phillip got a chance to travel to Los Angeles in October 2023 to meet his newfound Uncle.

Phillip started the Black Genealogy Collective to serve as a place where those who are researching can find information on how to find resources to help them in their research. He also wanted to have a collection of genealogy experts, bloggers, podcast hosts, etc. to make it easier for people to find and also provide a chance for them to get the word out about the content and services they provide.

The Black Genealogy Collective serves as a collaborative space where users connect, share resources, and navigate the intricacies of tracing their Black lineage. The Collective fosters a supportive community and honors the resilience and contributions of Black ancestors. It’s a hub dedicated to preserving heritage, fostering understanding, and celebrating the diverse stories within Black genealogy.

Welcome to The Collective!
